The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is the largest balloon fiesta in the country with over 600 hot air balloons participating in the 9 day event in October. Up to 100,000 people share the balloon field to watch the balloons inflate and launch. it's a definite bucket list event!


If you're in Albuquerque, you must visit historic Old Town. Colonized by the Spanish in the 1700's Old town has over 10 blocks of historic adobe buildings with shops and restaurants.

Another unique local feature is Sandia Peak ski area. You can ride the tram up from Albuquerque and ski on the other side of the Sandia Mountains.

New Mexican cuisine is the regional cuisine of the US state of New Mexico. Part of the broader Southwestern cuisine, New Mexico food culture is a fusion of Pueblo Native American, Spanish, Mexican and cowboy chuckwagon.

 New Mexican cuisine developed in uniquely isolated circumstances and is therefore not like any other Mexican food in the United States.


New Mexico is the only state with an official question—"Red or green?"—referring to the choice of red or green chile.[4] Often dishes can be requested with both red and green chile (one side covered with green, the other with red) and is referred to as "Christmas".
